Historic day for Medway Innovation Centre

Construction of the new three-storey building is being marked on Wednesday, 10 September with a topping-out ceremony.
This second phase of Medway Innovation Centre (MIC) builds on the success of phase-one, which provided 15,000 sq feet of workspace.
Phase-two offers office suites for two to ten people with one floor being marketed internationally for an anchor tenant. It is world-class corporate standard accommodation for the 21st century with state of the art IP phone and data network infrastructure and high bandwidth Internet access.

MIC is being developed by Medway Council in partnership with global defence and aerospace company BAE Systems, the Royal Bank of Scotland and the universities of Kent and Greenwich.

Cllr Jane Chitty, Portfolio Holder for Strategic Development and Economic Growth at Medway Council, said: “This topping-out ceremony is an historic day for the MIC and for Medway.
“We and our partners are facilitating the development of a world-class high technology cluster by incubating young businesses until they become significant contributors to the economy. “Medway is the perfect location for such a project, not least because of the huge regeneration programme that will transform the area over the next 20 years.”

The MIC is the only civilian UK incubator base specialising in the national security and resilience market and the opportunities to partner with BAE systems are already attracting significant international interest.
