Cabinet Approves Key Regeneration Plans

Development briefs for two major regeneration sites –- Temple Waterfront at Strood and the Pentagon shopping centre in Chatham -– have been adopted by the Cabinet of Medway Council.

Medway Renaissance Partnership and Design Excellence in North Kent were the joint sponsors of a two-stage competition to design footbridges at Rochester Riverside. The footbridges will create linkages for pedestrians and cyclists, forming part of the planned 2.5km river walk, providing new access to the River Medway.

Medway Renaissance, the team delivering massive regeneration projects on the Kent section of the Thames Gateway, is in talks with some of the world's biggest investment companies after advertising a £1 billion business opportunity. They placed a series of adverts in the Financial Times and trade press for ‘investment partners', becoming the first Thames Gateway region to make such a move

A public art creation symbolising the regeneration of Medway has scooped a prestigious £15,000 award. ‘Chatham Vines' - winner of the Rouse Kent Public Art Award 2006 - is the work of installation artist John Newling.
